Determined not to fall in love, Mildred Zimmermann carefully nurses an army medic crippled in love and war. Somewhat of a homebody, Trudy Meier isn’t sure she has the courage to love a roving reporter. Gwendolyn’s beautiful wildflower field is threatened by a geologist’s search for knowledge. Amelia Bachman wants no part of a loveless marriage like she observed growing up in her parents’ home. She chooses to become a teacher since school teachers aren’t permitted to marry. Hank Zimmermann struggles with the contention between him and his father, who wants Hank to follow in his footsteps and take over the family farm. But working the land doesn’t excite Hank like crafting fine pieces of furniture does. He hopes to build a successful carpentry business, but discovers what he wants even more is a home of his own and a family to fill it. If Amelia is to be part of that family, God will have to change her mind and turn the Sunday house into a home.
